Choosing a Supplier Series – Refurbers

£ We want to help you understand the advantages, disadvantages of the different and making a supplier work for you to make your online business successful. Whether you sell on eBay, Amazon, OnBuy, your own Shopify site or one of the many other routes to market. Your success will start with the products you buy and who you purchase them from. We’re shining the spotlight here on refurbers.

Advantages: Prices much cheaper than new. Consumers understand “refurb” now thanks to eBay

Disadvantages: Bulk needed for economies of scale. Often dealing with one person rather than a business. Grading of refurbished stock can be ambiguous e.g. fixing a technical problem doesn’t mean the product isn’t scratched

Making a refurber work for you.

Obviously works better for some product niches than others. Refurbishment may also be attached to another business such as an auction house.

We would recommend for categories of electronics, computers, mobile phones.

You can also do your own refurbishment. With the rise of more diverse marketplaces such as etsy, notonthehighstreet, depop and the improvements eBay have made, you can do your own refurb or buy and sell to take the admin from those who enjoy the craft

Where to find: go local and by category
