Saving you money on shipping Costs

Hi everyone !

I have been in the shipping/forwarding industry for over twenty years and have started to specialise in Customs matters although I still deal with the 'shipping' side of things now and again.

I work as Customs Manager for the Woodland Group - One of the UK's largest privately owned Freight Forwarders. We try to make all our clients feel special and try to deliver the feel of a small company when dealing with customers in offering a very personal service, but with the huge range of services and great shipping rates that a large company has access to.

We like to 'Stand out from the crowd'. Once you use us once, you will use us forever.

So if you would like any information on Global shipping rates (sea and air), customs, insurance, warehousing and distribution within UK and the EU, which are just the tip of the iceburg, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. If you have a requirement, we have an answer.

We will not be beaten on price or service.

Our website www.woodlandglobal.com has more information.

My email is [email protected] - Come and say Hi !

Thanks,
Darren.

Re: Saving you money on shipping Costs

Hi there,

Your services may be of us to me as i look to buy from china within the next year what support can you provide exactly if i have found a supplier and need to get it to my door?

Re: Saving you money on shipping Costs

Hi JD,

As support much as you want. The actual importation process is fairly simple. I would recommend you get FOB price from your Supplier which covers goods to China Port/Depot - We then do the rest. Feel free to email me once you start importing and I can go through everything for you. [email protected]

Kind regards,
Darren.

Hi Gzyihai,

No problem at all - I can get you air price. Sea may work our cheaper but it depends how quickly you need the goods. If you could email me full details with your company information I will get a formal quote sent to you for both modes.

Kind regards,
Darren.

Hello Darren,

I would like to order some goods from China to sale them here in UK. I do not want to order whole container, I would like to rent for example 20% of container. Is that possible or I have to order whole container in order for me to get goods. How much it will take to get it here in London, UK plus shipping cost. Thanks,,,

Hi Svelychko,

That is no problem at all. The 'official' term for this is LCL (Lesser Container Load). Essentially you 'share' a container with other importers. The goods are consolidated in China and usually goods will be sent by a freight forwarder to the UK and be unpacked, customs cleared and delivered. On our service we ship from most major Chinese ports on a weekly basis controlling our own containers so yo are not risking two or three other parties being involved. Everything is in house, so our own warehouses, in house customs clearance and delivery on our own vehicles.

You will usually pay based on the weight or CBM of the goods, so would not need to worry about actually renting part of a container as such. Shipping is based on 1000 Kgs / 2 CBM so if you can just let me know the total weight and cube, what the goods are and where they are being delivered to in the UK I can get a price over to you. Also please let me know which China Port goods will be loading from and ask your Supplier to quote on FOB terms (which means they pay for goods to be transported to the Port (Or more specifically our local depot to that Port).

Kind regards,
Darren.

Hi,

I am trying to put together a list of cost associated with importing a container containing heavy goods from china (maybe LCL as a sample batch and than if everything will go according to plan FCL/s) . The whole thing is in its theoretical stage but I won't be able to go forward with it without knowing all the cost.

As I am new to it I would require an extensive assistance ( ' information on Global shipping rates, customs, insurance, warehousing and distribution within UK and the EU ' ).

Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,

No problem at all. If you would like to drop me a mail with more detail and your company info (if you have one) I'm more than happy to help.

Hi,

At the moment I am looking for suppliers and stock but in the near future I am looking for a shipping company who can ship goods to Southern Africa from the UK. I am usually out of the UK and visit it once a year for a few weeks so I need a dependable freight company who can handle pick ups of goods and ship them the afore mentioned place. Can you offer me this service, if so please PM an email so we can discuss further.

Thanks

If I get you right, you'd be able to get products from china to my door cheaper then the wholesalers themselves?
Also for smaller orders, and everywhere in Europe (as I live in the Netherlands)?

Thanks

Hi Silum,

Shipping is an economy of scale, so if you are shipping 10 x 40' containers a month, it will work out cheaper per unit than if you were shipping one pallet, as you essentially have more 'buying power'.

What I can say is that our shipping rates will rarely be beaten, and as one of our clients you will be treated to a first class service - something you will not get from many other freight forwarders.

We can ship to the Netherlands from China, but we would route via UK (if LCL Cargo) so it would work out more expensive than rates through to Door UK, I can however give you the details of our agent in Holland who will be able to get some competative rates for you for shipping directly if need be.

Darren.

Hi Darren,

Thanks for your reply. I was planning on buying low quantities at first (package would be around 1.5 kg), if the sales go well this will ofcourse increase.
Is there anyway I can pre-calculate the shipping costs? Also, how does this process work? Do I have to contact the supplier asking if someone will pick up the goods?
I can't see your e-mail, I guess that's because you're the topic starter and I'm not. Feel free to contact be my PM/E-Mail: [email protected]

Thanks

Hi,

You will be using a courier so easiest option is to ask shipper to arrange it to be sent to you rather than trying to do it yourself. Most will have agreements with certain courier companies.

Kind regards,
Darren.
